Assistant Production Manager

The Assistant Production Managers play a key role in the leadership and day-to-day operation of the Production Team by working closely with the Production Manager, Production Shift Leads, Production Assistants as well as vendors, the executive team and leaders from other departments.

Key tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Act as a role model for all team members by continuously exhibiting a high level of service and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Develop mastery in all production roles regularly performed by Production Assistants.
  • Supervise employees and provide training and coaching as needed to ensure everyone is performing their job properly; this may include leading training classes or providing one-on-one training to employees.
  • Fill in for absent production team members as needed to ensure smooth operation of the business.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Maintain production equipment, including performing routine and emergency maintenance.
  • Play a key role department-led and company-led continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage projects as assigned and organize teams to assist in these efforts.
  • Continually advance product knowledge.
  • Play a key role in inventory management, production planning, material handling, quality control, audit preparation and development of standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in and lead a variety of special projects.

Must be:

  • Interested in learning new things.
  • Excellent with organizational, collaboration, problem-solving, project management and team leadership skills.
  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Able to be the designated on call leader to assist with emergencies outside of normal shift hours at regularly assigned intervals.
  • Able to lift 30+ lbs. and spend most days on your feet.
  • Able to work in a physically-challenging production environment with repetitive movements.
  • Able to operate forklifts, pallet wrappers, computers and other warehouse equipment and technology.
  • Able to keep a positive attitude with challenging situations, tight deadlines and mundane projects.
  • Able to pass a drug test and a background check.
  • Able to work independently but also in a team environment.
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Honest, reliable and happy to fill a variety of roles.

Must have:

  • At least 10 years experience in a related role(s) (production management, warehouse management, equipment maintenance, team leadership, etc.)
  • Reliable transportation to be able to work at multiple project sites.
